Jan 10, 2003 What's the best way to clean a commuter of a brushed motor Hey, I have a Himark (promax, Irvine. what ever you want to call it) 4011 brushed motor and I want to clean the commuter by taking the backplate off and gently cleaning it to give a better conductivity with the brushes.Clean the area using a wire brush. Put the new bearings into the bearing containers. Replace the armature, then place the top half of the motor casing onto the bottom half.
